We are an experimental physics research group at UIUC, where we are a part of the Physics department, IQUIST and MRL. Our work falls broadly into quantum optics and quantum information, with a lot of influences from AMO and condensed matter physics.
Our main focus is designing and measuring superconducting and hybrid quantum circuits. We are particularly interested in developing modular quantum computing architectures, quantum error-mitigation and correction, studying open quantum systems, and generally in inventing interesting and new quantum devices that might advance scaling, coherence, or functionality of quantum systems.
Interested in joining us? We’re often on the lookout for new undergrads, PhD students, and postdocs.
We are currently supported by the NSF, including via the QLCI-HQAN, the DOE, as well as the IBM-Illinois Discovery Accelerator Institute.
